Our Very Eventful trip home

Memorial Day weekend was wonderful. Wednesday morning we woke up to go home and Adam woke up very sick. We left later in the morning than expected so Adam could get some sleep. We stopped in St. John's Arizona where my Grandma and Great Grandma were born. The house in the picture is the house my Grandpa Hamblin built. It was fun to drive through and see the family history that is rich in that little community. Besides having Adam being sick the drive was going well until about 44 miles outside Gallup, New Mexico and just a couple of miles outside of the Zuni Pueblo in New Mexico. Our transmission went out. It felt like a problem Adam had last year so we were hopeful because that problem was under warranty and we didn't have to pay a cent for the work.

We could only help but laugh at our situation as it just seemed to get worse. We got towed into Gallup and the man dropped us off at a hotel near the Ford dealership ( again we thought it was the problem under warranty) which was not on the best side of town. By the time we got settled into the hotel room it was getting late and Alina and I were starving and Adam needed medicine. I started to walk to some nearby stores, but found they were all closed and the rest of the places were too far away. We ended up ordering pizza and getting a coke for Adam's headache. The pizza was awful and we only ate two pieces. Alina filled up on goldfish and water that night. It ended up being a long night with me waking up feeling sick and Adam feeling much better.
We found out pretty early that it was a transmission problem and we had to get the truck to a transmission shop.

We ended up renting a car and left the truck to be worked on. We got home late that night exhausted and both still feeling weak from our illness. We could only laugh because if we didn't laugh we would have cried. There have been other set backs since we have been back that have added to the situation, but as Adam and I had a conversation about it last night we can not deny that Heavenly Father is aware of us and that he has helped us in the past and that he will do it again!

There have been miracles along the way; I would be foolish not to recognize Heavenly Fathers hand in our lives even when it seems like everything is going wrong. The man who rented us the car gave let us rent it at cost, the man who worked on our truck was honest and charged us a very fair price, the timing worked out perfectly so that my parents picked up the truck for us the next Tuesday when they came out to visit us, and many more things since then. I am grateful for the power of tithing and I know that as we give Heavenly Father a tenth of our income that he blesses us much more than what we have given him.
